"The National Defense Authorization Act is one of the most important bills Congress considers annually, and I appreciate the opportunity to advance it with Chairman Reed. This year's defense bill includes many key provisions to maintain deterrence and modernize our armed forces. I am hopeful that the Senate will consider other improvements, including a topline increase for the Department of Defense. Adequate funding of our security needs would be a powerful show of resolve to our adversaries.
